140. A Dive For The Sunken Treasure

                                                 By H A R I N I

Yawn!! I threw open the covers of my bed and hopped out! Today was an exciting day because... Oh my goodness, I almost forgot to introduce myself! My name is Sally, Sally Pearson! It is a pleasure to meet you! As I was saying, it was an exciting day because today was the day when me and my friends set out a quest to dive for sunken treasure! We found the map when we were battling a fierce group of dead skeletons! You could tell by that, that we are an adventurous group!

I called all four of my friends Simon, Sarah, Willie and Cleo, to meet me at the library to do some more research about the treasure. We met at about half-past-four, and read at least every book about sunken treasures. We learned that in the year
1987, treasure hunter Tommy Thompson, found a ship named the SS Central America that had sunk more than a hundred years earlier. After discovering nearly $1 billion of gold, he disappeared and has not been seen since!! We learned a lot of information and we set out to find the treasure!!

I went home and got the items that we needed for our quest. I ran to the boating docks and waited for my friends to arrive. When they arrived, we rented a boat for $250, and it was on a 40% discount so we only paid $150. We got on the boat and rowed away. We got to our destination when Sarah screamed “I SEE THE TREASURE!! I SEE THE TREASURE!!” We put on our scuba gear and dived down below! We left Willie on the boat because he couldn’t swim, so he was our lookout! We swam and swam and swam, until I felt something hard! I put my hand on it and opened the lid, and out poured pearls, diamonds, rubies, emeralds and gold! We pulled it out of the water and hoisted it on the boat when we realized that Willie wasn’t with us! I looked around the boat and saw Willie on the back of our boat desperate to get on! We got him on the boat, but Simon realized that the boat was sinking!! It was too heavy! Suddenly, Sarah said to me and Simon, to let go of Willie, because if we don’t, we’ll lose the treasure!! Everyone said “NO!!” And what I did next was unthinkable, I picked up the treasure and dropped it into the ocean.

Sarah screamed and screamed, but eventually she calmed down and then said, she let the greed come to her and she turned on her friends. When we went back home, I opened my journal and wrote “Never let greed come between friends”. From that day forward, we would still go on treasure hunts, but to be careful to never let it come between our friendship.
