Delaware,
also called the Diamond State, was founded by Peter Minuit in 1638.
Since Delaware has been founded, 45,385 people have resided there. Pennsylvania,
New York and New Jersey were also in the colony at that time. The
economy of Delaware depended on industry, trading and labor. For
nourishment and energy, the people ate rice, barley, corn, oats, meat, beans,
squash and many other kinds of savory foods, that have been grown by farmers.
Geography
Delaware
is mostly flat. The southern boundary in Delaware is full of swamps.
Delaware also has fertile soil and land that was good for farming. To the
west of Delaware is Maryland, to the north is Pennsylvania, and to the south is
New Jersey.

groups are the Dutch, Lutherans, Jews, Roman Catholics, Quakers, the Lenape,
and many others.

Delaware's
climate has warm summers and mild winters. The weather
provided farmers with excellent land for growing food.

as corn and wheat and livestock. Some other industries made iron, lumber,
textiles, and furs.
